The document presents the findings from the evaluation of SNEHA’s Hybrid Intervention, implemented between 2021 and 2024 in urban informal settlements of Mumbai. The intervention aimed to improve maternal and child health and nutrition through collaborative community engagement, public health system partnerships, and volunteer-led awareness programs.

The evaluation, based on baseline and endline surveys, assessed key health indicators among mothers and children under five years old. The results show notable improvements in reducing stunting and underweight levels among children, though wasting rates remained unchanged. There was a significant increase in early pregnancy registration, full immunization coverage, and the participation of Anganwadi workers in child growth monitoring. Additionally, maternal anemia rates saw a marked decline, reflecting improved maternal health outcomes.

Community volunteer engagement was a key component of the intervention, leading to increased awareness of maternal and child health services. The study also highlighted an increase in proper handwashing practices and sanitation improvements. However, challenges such as fluctuations in the uptake of supplementary nutrition services due to external factors like nationwide strikes were noted.

The report concludes that the Hybrid Intervention successfully enhanced public health service utilization and community-led health awareness, contributing to better maternal and child health outcomes. It emphasizes the need for sustained community involvement, adaptive strategies to address persistent nutritional challenges, and stronger systemic collaborations for long-term impact.
