The report highlights a collaborative initiative led by SNEHA to address maternal anemia through partnerships with NGOs, municipal health posts, and community volunteers. Anemia, a prevalent condition among pregnant women, leads to various health complications, including poor pregnancy outcomes. The initiative integrates strategies like early pregnancy registration, anemia screening, iron-folic acid supplementation, deworming, and nutrition counseling to improve maternal health outcomes.

The intervention employs a multi-stakeholder approach. Municipal health posts ensure early registration and provide essential supplements, while ICDS facilitates take-home rations and participates in community events. Partner NGOs conduct anemia screenings and distribute supplements, and community volunteers support compliance through home visits and anemia tracking tools. SNEHA manages data, organizes awareness events, and ensures the adherence of protocols.

Significant outcomes include a measurable reduction in anemia prevalence among pregnant and lactating women, from 45% to 24% across three anemia camps held at three-month intervals. The success is attributed to continuous community engagement, male involvement, and effective use of monitoring tools like the anemia calendar. Challenges such as irregular supply of supplements, dietary gaps, and cultural misconceptions were addressed through targeted advocacy, counseling, and educational initiatives.

The program underscores the importance of addressing anemia through a holistic framework that combines dietary diversification, supplement provision, and community-level awareness. The transparent, participatory approach among stakeholders has proven effective, offering a replicable model for tackling maternal anemia in resource-limited settings.
